Today’s challenge is all about reaching new heights—literally!
 

Scene Overview:

The Wicked witches have a lesson to teach us about defying expectations and embracing our inner power. Your challenge today is to embody that magic in your performance inspired by the iconic song, "Defying Gravity."
 

Self-Tape Guidelines:
 

INTRO: Clearly state your name and age, and mention that this self-tape is for Day 7 of the Christmas Acting Challenge.
 

The Scene: You are standing at the edge of a cliff overlooking a magical world (imagine Oz and the Emerald City). You have just discovered your true magical potential and are about to take your first flight! Use your wand or hands to channel your energy into summoning a broom or conjuring your wings.
 

Character: Elphaba

Performance:

Deliver this line as your character realises their power:
 

Elphaba: No one can tell me what magic I can or cannot use anymore!
 

Perform a snippet of the song "Defying Gravity". 

Just you and I, defying gravity
With you and I defying gravity
They'll never bring us down
